Global Dignity Day

Global Dignity Day Celebration at Askari X

In a day and age when there is so much conflict in the world  there is a great need for broad agreement on something unifying , something that encourages and even grows a sense of community. That something is dignity. The Global Dignity Day was designed to break all barriers and cross all fences to reach out to the world at large. We at Askari X are very proud to have collaborated with our partner school in Philippines to get our message across. The bright sunny day of the 17th of October was the unifying element as over 50 countries across the globe celebrated the day in their own fashion.
The day at Askari X began with a whole school assembly presentation displaying their latent talent and perception of the issues. The festivities included a dramatic rendering of the essence of dignity, story sharing about Edhi and Malala Yousafzai and the dance of joy of class I students, to the heart thumping music and synchronization of our school choir.
The highlight of the day was the Dignity Walk that the students participate in. the students had made extraordinary posters based on the theme of dignity and its essence. The students bearing the posters showcased their desire to end all miseries that ail our mother earth through their optimism and positive and all inclusive activism.

School Elections October 2012

School Elections for the selection of students to represent the rest of their school fellows at Askari X were held on 4th October, 2012. The contestants as well as the voters were ecstatic to be given the right to vote for their representatives. Our confident contestants had feverishly campaigned for two days before the final Election Day. The aesthetically done up tables were thronged with voters who were overjoyed to be casting votes.
The results were compiled by the duty teachers and were announced in the assembly.

Hamza Jahangir was elected as the Head Boy and Ayra Tariq was the elected Head Girl.
Congratulations to our well deserved winners. The elected members of the Student’s Council will be awarded their respective sashes and badges in a special ceremony which will be held later this week.

Dignity First

Skype meeting with our partner school in the Philippines

In celebration of the Dignity Day globally we at Askari X held our first Skype meeting with our partner school St. Paul’s Learning Center in Cebu Philippines, for the Global Dignity Day Project.

The meeting was planned and conducted at 11:30 am Pakistan time and 2:30 pm Philippines time. The students introduced themselves top their counterparts in the other country. The School Head also met our SHM Mrs.Fariha Najam and exchanged pleasantries welcoming each others institution to the Skype meeting.

The students were very generous in welcoming their counterparts and the introductions brought them a little closer although both countries are thousands of miles apart. This project aims at not only bringing the world closer an it has already become a Global Village, but also to give the young minds the exposure they deserve from the glorious world of opportunities and progress.

After the introductory meeting we signed off at 12:00 noon Pakistan time. We will meet tomorrow at the same time where both schools will provide an online forum for discussion about the golden rules of dignity. The students are all geared up and excited about it and we wish them all the best.
