The Beaconhouse School System, Primary Branch at Askari X organized a colorful and vivacious Sports Gala on 7th and 8th March 2012. The theme of the Sports Gala was ‘Diya Jalai Rakhna.’ The theme was symbolic of the light that is the promise of a new day full of freedom and progress for posterity. The Sports Gala was graced by Mr. Basheer Butt, President Karate Federation and Mr. HaroonRasheed, ex-cricketer ,manager Pakistan team ,currently Director Youth Academy . The little cherubs of the early years presented a wonderful show of discipline and co ordination. The Primary students displayed team spirit and synchronization as both music and physical education is a vital part of their curriculum. The Gala was just an amalgamation of all the activities they do on a regular basis. The school has well orchestrated choir which sang joyous songs on both days and cheered to boost the morals of the athletes. They also sang patriotic and engaging songs and kept the audience spell bound. The highlight of the first day of the Gala was the Parents Event in which the parents participated to make the day memorable for their children. The overjoyed parents and their children made the day a success. Such experiences speak volumes for the knowledge being imparted to the students of Beaconhouse. The eye catching Hula Hoop presentation won the hearts of the audience. Praises of parents and guests couldn’t find boundaries when the cheerleaders enhanced the environment of the school ground with their performance. The eventful Gala touched its peak when the students showcased their strength in the Karate Display. Among the races of classes Pre-Nursery till five, were the Dressing Up, Little Red Riding Hood Race , Animal, Flat, Relay, Sack, Hurdle, Three legged, Wheel barrow, Balancing and Spoon Race. The Paramount bewildered the audience with perfect balance. The audience was spell bound by the confidence our students exuded. On both days the chief guests appreciated the efforts of management, staff and students. They added that a hundred percent participation of the students was indeed a great achievement. Holding such functions is a great feat. This will surely last as one of the best memories in the minds of the young participants. The Sports Gala ended with the Theme Song “Diya Jalai Rakhna” a promise for a bright and radiant future. The spectators remained entertained through out the show. Children dressed up in traditional Pakistani dresses captivated the audience with their simplicity and innocence. The entire Sports Gala was a witness to the fact that, ‘Sports do not Build Character, They Reveal It.’
